The lower school at Gesu welcomes each child and family into a loving school community, where the joy of learning is treasured and different learning styles are celebrated.  Our lower school consists of Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. Classroom lessons and activities are designed to help children experience success and growth in each area of their development.  Children come to know God better and learn to share His love with others.

In Kindergarten – Grade 2 children are taught by their homeroom teacher with the support of several primary level resource teachers. They also have weekly classes with specialist teachers who instruct Spanish, PE, Music, Library, Art and Gifted & Enrichment programs. Our second grade students also have the opportunity to focus on their preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Our lower school classrooms have a variety of technology resources that help enhance student learning and exploration in the STREAM program.

As students move through the lower school, they gradually develop a greater sense of independence and autonomy.  Students mature into independent readers and thinkers, while they explore the world around them.  As our students advance through third and fourth grade, they interact with a greater number of teachers. The homeroom teachers specialize in one or more core content subjects, which allows for a strong, comprehensive teaching experience.  Students in third and fourth grade are also instructed by several resource teachers as well as specialist teachers for Spanish, PE, Music, Library, Art, and Gifted & Enrichment.

Gesu teachers make your child’s education a real team effort as they provide patterns of consistency and developmentally appropriate practices throughout the Lower School years.
