Camera System Request for Bid

Gesu Catholic School

Camera System Upgrade and Improvement Project 2024-2025

Gesu Catholic School in University Heights is in the process of upgrading our on-campus security camera systems.  The project timeline is flexible but ideally to be completed summer 2025. We are required to get at least three bids from different vendors, and we will need a fully itemized quote from each. An initial site visit and walkthrough is required with the Director of School Operations. A tiered and phased quote or bid is preferred for this project. After initial quotes have been reviewed, we will evaluate the bids and determine an updated project scope. This updated scope will be sent to all bidding vendors. Vendors will have the opportunity to update their quotes based on the updated scope. They may meet with the Director of School Operations again if they so choose. The committee will meet and evaluate the bids based on a rubric bid matrix details to be determined (criteria include but are not limited to cost, recurring costs, ability to expand, camera quality, infrastructure considerations, equipment availability, support, access to the system for users, timeline, references, user interface).  Vendors may be asked at this time to do a site visit with members of the decision committee before a final bid is approved. Past project completion and preexisting relationships have no impact on being selected for this project.  Being selected for this project has no impact on future projects.

Gesu Catholic School has secured grant funding from the SFY2024 Ohio Security Grant provided by the Ohio Department of Public Safety (EMA Grants Branch) and we are required to work within their guidelines and the guidelines of the Diocese of Cleveland for this project.  As part of the bidding process we are posting this on our website.

Approximate Timeline (Subject to change):

  • October/November 2024 Requesting quotes and conducting walkthroughs
  • November 29, 2024 All initial quotes are due via email to mmartinek@gesu.com
  • December 2024 Internal Evaluations and Questions to Vendors
  • January 3, 2024 Notification of Project Status
  • Spring/Summer 2025 Project Starts (Must be completed by September)

Contact:

Please contact Michael Martinek, Director of School Operations via 216.816.1308 (office cell) or mmartinek@gesu.com (preferred contact method) with any questions or to schedule a site visit. The overall project will be approved by a committee consisting of the Director of School Operations & Technology, Parish Chief Operating Officer, Business Manager, Principal and Pastor.

Breakdown of Tiers/Phases:

  1. Replacement of Current NVR to a Cloud or on Premise System (Vendor determined)
  2. Replacement or integration of existing cameras. .
  3. Additional 16-24 cameras.
  4. The current scope does not include the church property or pastoral center. But we would like the ability to expand to those locations at a later date.

Due to Safety and Security Concerns the scope of work, including floor plans and current camera placements are not posted online. Please contact Michael Martinek, director of school operations to acquire the full documentation for the project.

Summer Study Recommendations 2024

Summer is a time for true hands-on learning. Catching fireflies, playing kickball with friends, taking creek walks are all examples of
activities that inspire learning. Sitting on a blanket under a tree being so engrossed in a book that it is surprising the sun is setting is a
beautiful image. This is the form of summer learning Gesu embraces. Below, you will see reading and math recommendations for this
summer. They are recommendations, not requirements. Our faculty and staff are pleased to provide further direction and suggestions if needed.

Christmas Events

We Give Catholic 2023

THANK YOU!

On #WeGiveCatholic 109 donors helped us raise $11,330 for our Faculty Classroom Wish Lists!

You helped us to greatly exceed our goal, thank you!

Gesu Catholic School has been an important ministry of the Gesu Parish Community for over 95 years.  The school provides a Christ-centered education with an emphasis on the Jesuit traditions of academic excellence, service to others and working for the great honor and glory of God.

The school community includes approximately 640 students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 with another 90 students in the Early Education Center. The school has been awarded the U.S. Department of Education’s National Excellence Award and is an Ohio Designated STEM School.

This year, Gesu Catholic School will be participating in #wegiveCatholic and ask for support of our mission!

As you know, Gesu Catholic School has over 65 faculty and staff that made a positive impact on our students each and every day. Many of the faculty enhance a student’s learning experience by purchasing items with their own money. Our goal this year is to raise money for the teachers and allow them to purchase classroom accessories that would benefit their student’s learning environment.

The funds raised would be divided between the grade level teachers and special teachers. Then, the faculty could decide what they need – new rug for reading time, portable desks with caddys, flexible seating options, mobile white boards, books for classroom libraries, and so much more. The teachers spend countless hours teaching our students to grow academically, spiritually and physically.

Let’s show our appreciation to the amazing Gesu Catholic School faculty and staff with making a gift for #wegiveCatholic today!

We hope you will consider a tax deductible gift to Gesu Catholic School on November 28! Any size gift is welcome and will make a positive impact! Your gift is tax-deductible too.

Thank you for considering a gift to Gesu Catholic School!

Mardi Gras 2023

Christmas Masses

Dear Gesù Family and Guests-
CHRISTmas is upon us and we gather to welcome the Prince of Peace. This last year it has been so difficult to watch the horrors of war and violence play out in Ukraine, in other parts of the world and on our own city streets. Violence that takes life, removes dignity, and perpetuates hatred. YET in the early hours of Christmas morning a baby’s voice was heard crying a message of peace, selflessness, love and a new beginning. “Emmanuel” – God with us! This same voice is now to be heard in the voices, actions and love of the people who follow that little child born to us on Christmas. We must become instruments of change and peace. It is only through breaking the chain of violence by turning to peace and love that the new beginning brought by Jesus at Christmas can be realized. May we begin in our own hearts, homes and Gesù community. My greatest hope is that Gesù continues to grow as a community that is open, welcoming, and deeply faithful to the message of Jesus. Peace on Earth is possible. May it begin with us!
Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year!

Magazine Drive

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the 2022-23 school year! We are excited about the plans we have for the upcoming year.

As you know, the PTO financially supports our teachers and our students throughout the year, raising funds for Gesu School activities both in and out of the classroom such as the Pumpkin Bop, Winter Blast, the Junior High Dance, Hike for Hunger, class fields trips, teacher appreciation meals, after school clubs, and much more. PTO recently gave a sizable contribution to the Family Center and 2nd floor restroom renovations.

Your participation in our fundraising efforts ensures that we may continue to support these important endeavors. In response to families looking for an alternate way to support PTO, we are, again, offering a donation option, which will earn dress down days for your family.

  • PTO DONATION -A $125 donation per family to PTO will earn your child(ren) one (1) week of dress-down days on October 17-21 and 3 additional dress down days on November 30, January 11, April 26
  • MAGAZINE DRIVE – Six (6) online magazine orders per family received by Friday,
September 23rd will earn your child(ren) one (1) week of dress-down days on October 17-21.

To make your $125 donation, we are now offering an online payment option through Wufoo

https://gesuchurch.wufoo.com/forms/pto-donation/

OR you can send a check payable to Gesu PTO to the school office in an envelope marked “PTO Donation” with your family’s last name and date. In the memo line, please include your student(s) name. We hope every family will participate in at least one of these options. It is important to note that, in
addition to supporting Gesu PTO financially, we value the donation of your time. Please consider volunteering for an event through the volunteer survey link provided in the weekly Wednesday school email (Constant Contact) or on the Gesu PTO Facebook Page!

If you have any questions throughout the year, please contact the PTO Presidents, Emily Delaney
(emmydelaney@gmail.com) or Nicole Garofoli (ngarofoli07@jcu.edu). We look forward to working with all of you this year.

We appreciate your continued support!

We Give Catholic 2021

This #WeGiveCatholic 2021, we were able to see the importance that you place on Gesu Catholic School. Thanks to the outstanding support this past Tuesday, we were able to raise over $11,000. This was significantly above our goal of $7,500. To each and every person who was able to contribute, thank you for your commitment to our school. With you, Gesu Catholic School is able to provide the quality education, resources and safety that has become our pride as a Catholic Jesuit school.

This year for #WeGiveCatholic, we hope you will help us fund our vision for Gesu Catholic School. With security being our utmost priority, we are looking towards updating our new front office and main entryway to reflect these ideals. Some of the changes we would like to make include: enhancing our main entryway (welcome door) that leads into the school by adding new signage, a splash of color by painting a few walls, constructing a counter in the main office and purchasing a digital bulletin for important announcements and updates.

Any size gift is welcomed and is guaranteed to have an important impact on our school community.

Celebrating Our Community

On the first day of Catholic Schools Week, we come together to celebrate what is the supporting force behind our Catholic Schools: The Parish Community! We begin our week with a prayer service. Several parishioners have been invited to share testimonials of our parish life. We will, as part of our prayer service, complete a handout that will be distributed to our parish family. Our message is one of thanks as we express our gratitude and build our connection between our students and parishioners who support our school. Celebrating Our Community

Celebrating Our Nation

On National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools, students, families, educators and other Catholic school supporters communicate the value of Catholic education to government leaders. They share information with leaders on the significant contributions Catholic schools make to the nation and their role in preparing students to be good citizens. We pray for the nation and recognize all those who serve it. Celebrating Our Nation
